From Alawa, NT to Yeoval, NSW and throughout Australia 538 primary schools and early learning centres received a Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant. The grants, of up to $1,000 each, were awarded in March 2019 and are helping grow the next generation of environmental champions.
Sustainable food production proved a very popular category with many schools choosing vegetable, herb, fruit and bush tucker gardens for their projects. There are also many innovative projects to improve waste management as well as a variety of enhancing native habitats projects.
The grants are funded with money made from the sale of the Woolworths recyclable Bag for good™ which was launched in 2018 when the supermarket went single-use plastic bag free across all stores nationwide.
