Since late 2020, 4 Pines Brewing Co. have partnered with Landcare Australia to deliver two outstanding projects as part of its commitment to Brew Better. The first enhancing sustainable agriculture and on farm biodiversity in the brewer’s supply chain, which kicked off 4 Pines’ 1% for the Planet commitment; the second, to enhance local habitat, increase biodiversity and improve wildlife connectivity.

1% for the Planet is a global organisation that exists to ensure the planet and future generations thrive. As a member of 1% for the Planet, 4 Pines is donating 1% of its revenue from four of its beers (Pale Ale, Extra Refreshing Ale, Pacific Ale & Ultra Low) to Landcare Australia and other not-for-profit organisations.

In 2021, Landcare Australia identified the sustainability needs of Ryefield Hops, a family-owned hop farm in southern NSW that supplies 4 Pines. Based on the outcomes, in 2021-2022, Landcare Australia designed and delivered an on-ground agriculture project that demonstrates 4 Pines’ commitment to sustainable agriculture in Australia.

Giving back to Ryefield Hops is something 4 Pines is incredibly proud of, especially as Jade, Karen and Morgan from Ryefield had a rough 2019. Their farm was badly impacted by the severe drought and bushfires resulting in no hop harvest for the 2020 season. In total, 3,000 trees have been planted at Ryefield Hops. In late 2021, when 4 Pines became the official beer partner of the Australian men’s cricket team for the 2021/2022 Summer of Cricket, they further expanded their partnership with Landcare Australia by committing to plant four trees for every four scored by the men’s national team between December 2020 and January 2021. This translated into 4 Pines funding the planting of 44,444 native Australian trees, shrubs and ground covers at Cape Jervis on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula. Building on the success of this popular community campaign, 4 Pines and Landcare Australia will partner again for the 2022/2023 Summer of Cricket, with the aim of planting another 44,444 native plants on a newly-selected site in 2023.

As well as their 1% for the Planet beers, 4 Pines has been a B-Corp certified business since 2017. Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and accountability to balance profit and purpose.
