Since late 2020, 4 Pines Brewing Co. have partnered with Landcare Australia to deliver three outstanding projects as part of its commitment to “Brew Better”.
These initiatives focus on enhancing sustainable agriculture, improving biodiversity, and restoring wildlife habitats. The first project, launched in partnership with Landcare Australia, targeted sustainable agriculture and on-farm biodiversity in 4 Pines’ supply chain. This effort also marked the kick-off of 4 Pines’ 1% for the Planet commitment. Subsequent major projects have focused on enhancing local habitats, increasing biodiversity, and improving wildlife connectivity.
1% for the Planet is a global organisation dedicated to ensuring the planet and future generations thrive. As a proud member, 4 Pines donates 1% of net revenue from all beers sold to Landcare Australia and other not-for-profits working to protect the environment.
In 2021, Landcare Australia identified the sustainability needs of Ryefield Hops, a family-owned hop farm in southern NSW that supplies 4 Pines. Based on the outcomes, in 2021-2022, Landcare Australia designed and delivered an on-ground agriculture project that demonstrates 4 Pines’ commitment to supporting sustainable agriculture in Australia.
Giving back to Ryefield Hops has been especially meaningful for 4 Pines. In 2019, the farm endured severe drought and devastating bushfires, leading to no hop harvest in 2020. As part of the project, 3,000 trees were planted on the farm, aiding its recovery and resilience. Learn more about this project here.
4 Pines Brewing Co. partnership with Landcare Australia and Cricket Australia saw 44,444 trees, plants and shrubs planted at Cape Jervis on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula. Four trees were planted for every 4 hit during by the Australian Men’s Cricket Team during the 2021/22 Summer of Cricket. The outcomes of the plantings include enhanced landscape connectivity, improved biodiversity and the provision of long-term habitat for threatened species including the Glossy Black Cockatoo.
In a continuation of their commitment to plant 44,444 trees per year over three years, a project was undertaken at Billabong Farm near Inverell, NSW. It’s our hope these efforts will create much-needed habitat for some of Australia’s most vulnerable wildlife, like the endangered Koala, the threatened Spotted-Tail Quoll, and the critically endangered Regent Honeyeater. Each tree, shrub, and ground cover planted is a step toward a healthier ecosystem, supporting countless species that depend on it to survive.
Together, we’re building healthier soils, boosting biodiversity, and promoting resilient farming & restoring habitats for our native wildlife – proving what is possible when we commit to long-term sustainability.
As well as their 1% for the Planet beers, 4 Pines has been a B-Corp certified business since 2017. Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and accountability to balance profit and purpose.
