You can leave a lasting legacy by protecting the landscapes and wildlife the next generation will inherit

If you are passionate about environmental conservation and sustainable land management, leaving a gift in your Will to Landcare Australia is a powerful way to create lasting change. Your legacy gift ensures that the vital work of the landcare movement continues to protect and restore our unique landscapes for many years to come.

Following these simple steps will help you protect our future

Choosing to write or update your Will is a deeply personal decision. We understand that your first priority will always be to provide for those closest to you. Once you have looked after your loved ones, even a small portion of your estate – as little as 2% – can make a lasting impact on the Australian environment.

There are several ways you can include a bequest to Landcare Australia:

A Residual Gift

Involves leaving the remainder or a percentage of your estate once your loved ones are provided for and is often the most effective way to support a bequest charity.

A Specific Gift

Is a gift of a specific amount of money or a specific asset such as property or shares.

A Gift In Memory

Is a memorial donation or legacy gift made in honor of a loved one who was passionate about the land.

The Raymond Borland story shows how your gift creates a living legacy

The Raymond Borland Bequest was made to Landcare Australia in 2009 by New South Wales businessman, Mr Raymond Borland, who was disturbed by the degradation of the Australian landscape and wanted to support landcare work across New South Wales. Mr Borland left a bequest to Landcare Australia requesting that the funding be used for the rehabilitation of degraded natural environments in rural lands and non-tidal parts of river systems in New South Wales.

Over the last 15 years Landcare Australia has used Mr Borland’s bequest to support many environmental projects in NSW. The earliest restoration projects include Durness Station in the Hunter Valley of NSW; and the Bundanon Landcare Living Landscape, an environmental and educational initiative to increase biodiversity, capture carbon and reconnect native habitat on the culturally significant landscape on the Shoalhaven River managed by the Bundanon Trust.

More recently, Mr Borland’s bequest has funded a research partnership that supports sustainable river management in New South Wales. The ARC River Recovery Project is a research alliance between Landcare Australia, Hunter Local Land Services and Macquarie University. The project outcomes will be used to mitigate, respond and recover from natural disasters. This collaborative project is providing vital data and knowledge for ongoing sustainable river management, rehabilitation and continued health of our rivers in NSW.

Honor a loved one with memorial and funeral donations to
Landcare Australia

A memorial donation is a meaningful way to celebrate the life of a loved one who cared deeply about protecting the environment for future generations.

You can request donations in lieu of flowers to support the land

If you would like family and friends to give a funeral donation to Landcare in lieu of flowers, you may wish to include this request in the funeral notice.

“In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Landcare Australia to help restore and protect our natural environment.”

Landcare Australia is dedicated to our commitment to you

Your gift to Landcare Australia will be managed with the utmost respect. We understand that family comes first, and any information you share with us regarding your bequest to charity is handled with the greatest sensitivity and remains strictly confidential.
