What we do to care for Australia’s natural environment
Landcare Australia is a leader in the environmental and agriculture sector with expertise in working with multiple stakeholders to provide funding and in-kind support for the thousands of landcare groups, community groups and organisations, primary producers and farmers, landholders, Traditional Owners and First Nations organisations, youth groups and schools across Australia. Our activities include managing grants programs, provide project funding, develop education resources and case studies, the promotion of landcare projects across our vast communications network, and managing complex large scale ecological restoration projects.
At the heart of what we do, Landcare Australia’s day-to-day business is working to support the national landcare community that include over 6,000 landcare and other community-led environmental groups, and over 140,000 volunteers. Our national campaigns are developed in partnership with stakeholders to recognise and celebrate landcare achievements and encourage volunteer participation in landcare activities.

Grants
Our grants programs fund a diverse range of hands-on projects and programs that improve environmental outcomes, bringing landcare activities right into the heart of local communities across Australia.
Landcare Agriculture
The Landcare Agriculture program supports the adoption of sustainable agriculture practices and environmental stewardship for a more productive and profitable agriculture industry.
Landcare CarbonSMART
Landcare CarbonSMART is committed to helping organisations achieve their carbon reduction goals through the implementation of Environmental Planting initiatives. Landcare Australia’s services are designed to align with an organisations sustainability objective and support the development of high-integrity ACCUs
Landscape Restoration
Landcare Australia’s work with the landcare community improves biodiversity, restores landscapes, builds resilience in Australia’s food and farming systems, and creates stronger communities. We also manage large scale environmental restoration projects.
The WildSeek Project
WildSeek is supporting a network of Community Hubs for the conservation and rescue response of native species across Australia. WildSeek is bringing together leading environmental organisations and university researchers to create an innovative drone solution for surveying koalas.
First Nations and Landcare Projects
Landcare Australia is actively engaging with Traditional Owners and First Nations organisations to support First Nations community-led restoration projects. These projects support the integration of Cultural knowledge, education and environmental conservation into landcare projects.
Disaster Recovery Projects
With the increasing impact of a changing climate including bushfires, drought and floods, landcare is best placed to lead disaster recovery projects that restore landscapes, biodiversity and communities. Local landcare groups and volunteers understand the landscape, the habitats for native plants and animals, and how to mobilise the community to come together to start work on environmental restoration.
Register Your Land
Landcare Australia is building a database of land available for future planting projects. By registering your land, you’ll be considered for funding and project opportunities as they become available, helping to restore and protect Australia’s natural environment. This opportunity is open to landholders, Traditional Owners, First Nations organisations, primary producers, environmental not-for-profit organisations, and government agencies.
Coastcare
The Coastcare program supports community volunteers and groups who care passionately about the protection and management of our coastal and marine environments.
Junior Landcare
Working with the next generation of landcarers means bringing sustainability and environmental education into homes, classrooms and communities across Australia. Children who experience hands-on learning are inspired to learn how they can care for the environment.

Landcare Australia manages the Landcare Awards including the prestigious Bob Hawke Landcare Award, the General Jeffery Soil Heath Award and the Landcare Awards program.
