Young people leading with landcare to drive meaningful action
In a world where environmental challenges like species extinction, biodiversity loss and climate change are impossible to ignore, it’s easy for young people to feel overwhelmed by the constant stream of alarming news. However, there are young people concerned about the environment who are choosing to respond by stepping up, finding solutions, and driving meaningful change. Landcare Australia has joined forces with a growing number of young adult organisations to empower young people who are eager to take action and connect with like-minded people.
Young adults all over Australia (and the world) are taking the lead in making change happen in their community. They are bringing their own energy, passion and inspiration to landcare, and working alongside their communities (or even starting new ones), to make a difference to the planet in their own unique way. Not only are they leading projects that encourage their peers to get involved, they are also addressing a range of issues like mental and physical wellbeing, social isolation, and access to safe and inclusive spaces. Using their unique gifts, talents, energy and fresh perspectives, the next generation of Australians have discovered that landcare provides many pathways to make a difference.

Intrepid Landcare

Intrepid Landcare is an adventurous organisation that empowers young people aged 18 to 35 to care for the environment. For more than 10 years Intrepid Landcare has engaged with thousands of young people to deliver a range of leadership and personal development programs, and community engagement activities. Their approach includes providing a common space to inspire, connect and empower young people to ‘do stuff that matters’, and to act and lead with landcare. Intrepid Landcare supports a national Community of Practice of young landcare environmental leaders who connect and learn together through free online gatherings and events. They have helped many young people to develop and drive their own local environmental initiatives.
