Dr Warwick Badgery

NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI)

Dr Warwick Badgery is a research leader with NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) with over 15 years’ research experience on improving the profitability and sustainability of grazing systems and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions under a changing climate. With significant experience in investigating soil carbon under grazing systems, he has led the Central NSW component of the National Soil Carbon Research Project (SCaRP) and helped develop the first pilot pricing scheme for soil carbon in Australia. He is leading the development of the Grazing Intelligence models, to forecast livestock and pasture production in commercial paddocks.

Richard Heath 

Zero Net Emissions Agriculture CRC

Richard Heath is the Chief Executive Officer of Australia’s largest Cooperative Research Centre, Zero Net Emissions Agriculture CRC. His extensive experience in the Australian agriculture sector extends across multiple high-profile roles including as Executive Director with the Australian Farm Institute, Associate Professor of Agronomy and Farm Management at the University of Sydney and Director at Nuffield Australia Farming Scholars. Richard is a non-executive director of the Grains Research and Development Corporation. 

Ian McLean

Bush Agribusiness

Ian McLean is Managing Director and Senior Consultant of Bush Agribusiness.  Having grown up on a sheep and cattle property and with a background in accounting, agriculture, and consultancy roles, including work with the NT Department of Primary Industries and as Executive Officer at the NT Cattlemen’s Association, Ian brings together science and economics to help producers make informed business decisions. 

Melinee Leather

Leather Cattle Co

Melinee Leather operates Leather Cattle Co, a grassfed and EU certified humane cattle enterprise in Central Queensland, with her husband Rob and their son and daughter in law.   Their three properties span 17 500 ha and are currently running 5 000 head of cattle, where they breed and finish for the Organic, EU and natural pasture fed markets. Melinee has been actively involved in sustainability, advocacy and policy on behalf of the Australian beef industry over the last 16 years and was recently awarded the Success Through Collaboration Award at the Global Conference on Sustainable Beef in Punta del Este, Uruguay. For Melinee and Rob Leather who own and operate Leather Cattle Co, evidence of the relationship between environmental health and the prosperity of grazing enterprises drives them prioritise and invest in sustainability across their beef business.
