Experience Landcare
Landcare Week is an annual campaign celebrated during the first week of August that acknowledges the Australians who are actively restoring, enhancing and protecting the natural environment in their community.
The Landcare Week campaign week is an opportunity to create awareness of landcare to the wider community, and for us all to promote the environmental, community and wellbeing benefits of getting your hands dirty to create healthier landscapes and waterways and help improve biodiversity.
The campaign will acknowledge individuals, groups and organisations across Australia involved in landcare activities. This includes people involved in conservation land management, sustainable agriculture, Cultural land management, and the next generation of landcare leaders. The campaign will also acknowledge the thousands of volunteers and farmers who take action to care for the environment in their local community throughout the year.
From students learning about biodiversity, to volunteers caring for beaches and bushland, farmers adopting sustainable practices, Indigenous elders sharing knowledge, scientists advancing innovation, and businesses supporting staff volunteering – Australians are taking everyday steps to care for the environment at work, home and in their communities.

For Landcare Week 2026 we invite all Australians to ‘Experience Landcare’ – here is how you can get involved this year:
- Landcare Week 2026 Survey – Share your insights by completing the survey, open now until 30 June 2026.
- Landcare Through the Lens Photo Campaign – Submit a photo and tell us what Landcare means to you; entries close 31 August 2026.
- Campaign Toolkit – Download branded resources and templates to help promote your activities.
- Communications and Media Guidelines – Access practical guidance to share your story with media and encourage volunteering.
- National Landcare Calendar – List your events so people across Australia can discover and get involved.
- Social Media Sharing – Post your stories and tag @Landcare Australia or use the hashtag #landcareweek2026.
- National Landcare Directory – List your group so volunteers can easily find you.
- Local Volunteering – Get involved with your local Landcare, Bushcare, Friends of, Coastcare, Dunecare, or other community‑led environmental group.
- Skills‑Based Volunteering – Contribute your professional skills (such as grant writing, communications, photography, budgeting, or environmental knowledge) to help build the capacity of local groups.
- Donations – Support your local group or Landcare Australia so we can do more for nature and people.

Across Australia, more than 6,000 landcare groups and 100,000 volunteers give their time and energy to landcare activities.

The annual Landcare Week survey is now closed. We received over 1200 responses, thank you to everyone who participated. The insights report will be announced August 3 as part to the Landcare Week celebrations.
Landcare Through the Lens
The Landcare Through the Lens campaign invites Australians to share their landcare experience. Share a photo and tell us why it's important to you. Selected images will be featured during Landcare Week 2026, on social media, at the Landcare Awards events and the 2027 National Landcare Conference. Entries close 31 August 2026.
