Coastcare Victoria is proud to be part of a Commonwealth-funded project: Enhancing community and land manager capability for coastal weed management.

This exciting national initiative is all about strengthening collaboration across Australia to better manage priority coastal weed species and support the incredible work being done by community groups and land managers.

The project involves collaborators across New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.

Researchers from University of Wollongong have been contracted by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service with funding from the Commonwealth Government to investigate how coastal weeds are currently being managed across Australia, understand what best practice partnerships look like, and identify existing research needs of stakeholders.

A public survey open to anyone who manages coastal weeds across Australia, closed on 7 March 2026.

The project team look forward to sharing the outcomes from this project with Coastcarers, Landcarer’s and Friends across the country, as we all continue in our efforts to achieve strong biosecurity and conservation outcomes.
