This October, Landcare Agriculture will showcase the new Biodiversity in Action grants program at the “Tech + Extension: A Powerful Partnership for Change” themed APEN Conference in Brisbane, highlighting how collaborative extension and applied technology are driving practical, scalable change in Australian agriculture.
The Biodiversity in Action program is a national initiative supporting producers, Landcare groups, and partners to measure, manage, and restore biodiversity on agricultural land. The program works directly with producers to strengthen their networks, build knowledge and skills, and increase confidence in biodiversity management. By trialling and adapting innovative, science-based methods to real-world farming, the program demonstrates how biodiversity stewardship can deliver tangible benefits for both farm productivity and long-term business resilience.
The strong interest in the program – nearly 60 applications submitted and 11 projects funded – highlights the keen appetite across the ag sector to adopt biodiversity-enhancing practices and engage with natural capital opportunities.
The APEN Conference provides an important platform to share how extension professionals, working alongside new technologies, can deliver practical, evidence-based pathways for change. By embedding biodiversity into farm planning and reporting, Landcare Ag is helping shape a future where agriculture and nature thrive together.
