Landcare Australia joined producers, policymakers, and industry leaders in Canberra for the launch of the 2025 Australian Beef Sustainability Framework (ABSF) Annual Update, celebrating progress toward a resilient and sustainable red meat future.

Landcare Ag Program Manager, Angela Hammond, said the event highlighted the shared commitment across government and industry to drive evidence-based sustainability and continual improvement in Australian agriculture.

“It was a privilege to connect with so many passionate, forward-thinking people across the red meat supply chain — from producers to major industry partners,” Angela said. “The Landcare Ag program aligns closely with the ABSF’s aspirations, supporting producers to strengthen biodiversity, manage emissions, and build resilient, nature-positive businesses.”

The 2025 ABSF update revealed key achievements, including 69.83 million hectares of grazing land under forest — the highest since 1995 — a 70.1% reduction in net CO₂-e emissions since 2005, and 72% of feedlot capacity now providing shade access.

The event featured keynote addresses from Senator the Hon. Murray Watt and Minister the Hon. Julie Collins, highlighting the importance of collaboration between government, industry, and community in shaping a sustainable agricultural future.

Angela added, “The future of our wide brown land and the red meat industry is bright when collaboration, innovation, and stewardship lead the way.”

These milestones reflect the same values that underpin the Landcare Ag approach: partnership, transparency, and on-ground stewardship driving measurable impact.
