In late 2020, 4 Pines Brewing Co. partnered with Landcare Australia to deliver a project that will enhance sustainable agriculture outcomes in the brewer’s supply chain. This project kicks-off 4 Pines’ 1% for the Planet commitment.
1% for the Planet is a global organisation that exists to ensure the planet and future generations thrive. As a member of 1% for the Planet, 4 Pines is donating 1% of its revenue from three of its beers (Pale Ale, Extra Refreshing Ale or Pacific Ale) to Landcare Australia and two other not-for-profit organisations. To fund the Landcare Australia project, 4 Pines donated 1% of the revenue from over one million beers of these three beers.
Landcare Australia is engaging a family owned hop farm, Ryefield Hops farm in southern NSW to identify their sustainability needs. Based on the outcomes of this needs analysis, in 2021, Landcare Australia will design and deliver an on-ground agriculture project that demonstrates 4 Pines’ commitment to sustainable agriculture in Australia.
Giving back to Ryefield Hops is something 4 Pines is incredibly proud of, especially as Jade, Karen and Morgan from Ryefield had a rough 2019. Their farm was badly impacted by the severe drought and bushfires resulting in no hop harvest for the 2020 season.
As well as their 1% for the Planet beers, 4 Pines is one of only two certified B-Corp Brewers in Australia. Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and accountability to balance profit and purpose.
