Farming with Nature (VIC)

Project Overview

The Bass Coast Landcare Network (BCLN) will deliver the Forest on Farms project in the Western Port Woodlands region of Victoria, which contains 46% of all remaining remnant vegetation on the Bass Coast mainland. The project will support farmers to protect threatened species, improve habitat connectivity, and integrate biodiversity management into farm operations. Target species include the Southern Brown Bandicoot, Blue-winged Parrot, and Lace Monitor. Activities will combine farmer training, demonstration trials, and restoration works to enhance biodiversity resilience and support long-term farm productivity.

Project Goals

  • Build landholder capacity to manage and enhance biodiversity on-farm.
  • Protect and restore habitats for threatened species.
  • Integrate biodiversity into farm planning for sustainability and resilience.
  • Align with regional biodiversity and waterway strategies.

Key Activities

  • Woody weed control and demonstration events.
  • Nest box installation and monitoring.
  • Threatened species field days.
