Biodiversity in Bloom

Project Overview

Groups in Victoria aims to reconnect fragmented landscapes, working with landholders to create six demonstration sites across local farming systems. These sites will incorporate habitat restoration, revegetation, biodiversity monitoring, and adaptive management, with strong support from ecological specialists.

Project Goals

  • Re-establish biodiverse corridors on productive farms.
  • Build producer capability to assess and manage biodiversity.
  • Trial biodiversity-friendly practices with direct monitoring.
  • Share learnings through field events, social media, and workshops.

Key Activities

  • Establish six trial sites across 15–50 ha blocks.
  • Conduct baseline biodiversity assessments using:
  • Haynee surveys, vegetation structure, insect traps, fauna cameras, and soil health tests.
  • Deliver landholder training workshops, field days, and on-farm coaching.
  • Create property-scale biodiversity action plans for each site.
  • Disseminate findings via social media, signage, local media, and knowledge networks.
