Three Rivers Landcare Biodiversity in Action

Project Overview 

The Dunedoo Area Community Group, locally known as Three Rivers Landcare, is leading the Three Rivers Landcare Biodiversity in Action – Dunedoo Coolah Mendooran project to engage producers in the Dunedoo, Coolah, and Mendooran districts of central NSW to support soil health, pasture biodiversity, and drought resilience through trials, training, and on-ground assessment. It combines expert input with peer-led learning to drive adoption of practical biodiversity practices.

Project Goals

  • Increase landholder capacity in improving pasture biodiversity and monitoring soil health and pastures
  • Trial innovative practices to enhance productivity and resilience
  • Support knowledge sharing and peer-led demonstration of best practices
  • Strengthen community cohesion through collaborative learning.

Key Activities

  • Soil & pasture biodiversity field day (Spring 2025)
  • Co-funded soil sampling and site monitoring
  • Trial implementation across three regional properties
  • Soil test interpretation workshop with online presenter
  • Annual field days looking at various methods to improve pasture biodiversity
  • Development of case study and communication materials.
