BEQUESTS

In your will you have the opportunity to help Landcare Australia support the efforts of Landcare and Coastcare volunteers and groups who are committed to the environmental sustainability of Australia’s land and water assets.

How to leave a bequest

There are a few options on how to leave a bequest to Landcare Australia. However, before you do that, we believe that you should talk to your family first about your decision and what your final wishes will be before letting Landcare Australia know.

At Landcare Australia we are very grateful on your decision to include us in your will as every cent makes a difference. Your will is an important document and should be properly prepared and executed. You can either contact a solicitor or do it yourself. There are many ways you can leave a gift in your will to Landcare Australia:

1. Leaving a residuary bequest: A gift of whatever is left of your estate (or a percentage thereof) after you have made gifts to family and friends. As it is not a specific amount of money, it keeps its value regardless of inflation.

Suggested wording:

I give ______ percent of the residue of my estate to Landcare Australia of Level 1, 6 Help Street, Chatswood NSW 2067, for its general purposes, and the receipt of the Chief Executive, Treasurer, Secretary or the Public Officer for the time being will be an absolute discharge to my executor.

2. Leaving a pecuniary bequest: This is a gift of a set dollar amount determined by you at the time of making or changing your will.

Suggested wording:

I give $______ to Landcare Australia of Level 1, 6 Help Street, Chatswood NSW 2067, for its general purposes, and the receipt of the Chief Executive, Treasurer, Secretary or the Public Officer for the time being will be an absolute discharge to my executor.

3. Specific bequest: It can be a gift of a specific item, such as property or shares.

Suggested wording:

I give [describe asset accurately] to Landcare Australia of Level 1, 6 Help Street, Chatswood NSW 2067, for its general purposes, and the receipt of the Chief Executive, Treasurer, Secretary or the Public Officer for the time being will be an absolute discharge to my executor.
