02 November 2016 – A significant project restoring National and World Heritage-listed Woolmers and Brickendon Estates in Tasmania was completed earlier this month, the 100th project delivered to-date by Landcare Australia in partnership with ManpowerGroup as part of the Federal Government’s Green Army Programme.


WA Landcare champions triumph at National Landcare Awards

23 September 2016 – History was created last night at the 2016 National Landcare Awards where Western Australia dominated the evening, with locals Ella Maesepp, Rhonda Williams, Jill Richardson, Southampton Homestead, and Blackwood Basin Group winning a staggering five national category awards between them during the gala dinner held at the Melbourne Conference and Exhibition Centre.


Queensland coastal champions shine at National Landcare Awards

23 September 2016 – The Gold Coast’s Naomi Edwards and Sunshine Coast’s Coolum and District Coastcare came out on top at the 2016 National Landcare Awards, which took place at the Melbourne Conference and Exhibition Centre.


Crocodile Islands group snaps up Indigenous National Landcare Award

23 September 2016 – The Crocodile Islands Rangers were victorious at the 2016 National Landcare Awards, which took place last night at the Melbourne Conference and Exhibition Centre. The group took home the Indigenous Land Corporation Indigenous Landcare award ahead of seven other finalists from across the country.


NSW Landcare champions aces two wins at National Landcare Awards

23 September 2016 – Lake Macquarie Landcare and Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre featured among 12 winners at the 2016 National Landcare Awards, which took place last night at the Melbourne Conference and Exhibition Centre.

Australian public votes WA’s Southampton Homestead as best Landcare project

23 September 2016 – Balingup’s Southampton Homestead won the coveted People’s Choice Award last night at the National Landcare Awards in Melbourne. The farm, run by Jeff Pow and Michelle McManus, came out on top among all 69 national finalists by receiving the most votes from the Australian public in an online poll in the lead-up to last night’s award ceremony. It is the only award among all 11 handed out that is voted on by the public and not a judging panel.

Taste your way through Tasmania in support of Australia’s heroic farmers

Funding available for budding garden designers

3 August 2016 – Yates and Junior Landcare are calling on schools, kindergartens and youth groups across the country to submit a design for their dream garden for the chance to receive a grant valued at $2,000. The ‘Design and Be Inspired in the Garden’ grants program is offering 12 grants made up of $1,500 in funding, $500 of Yates garden products, and a Yates growing consultation. Grants will be awarded to the most creative, well designed, sustainable, and environmentally conscious entries.

From Fork to Farm! Host a BBQ and give back to our farmers this Australia Day

19 JANUARY 2016Landcare Australia has launched the From Farm to Fork Australia Day BBQ appeal to help raise vital funds for agricultural drought resilience, preparedness, and management work. Mr Jean-Marc Maissin, Director of Communications Landcare Australia, said that the From Farm to Fork Australia Day BBQ initiative provided a way for ordinary Australians, having an ordinary celebration, to raise vital funds to support our Aussie farmers.


Lion Landcare Grant helps improve milk quality for South Australian dairy farm

7 JANUARY 2016 – Two South Australian dairy farmers, Lyn and Kaye Gale, are set to use a Lion Landcare Grant to significantly reduce energy consumption and optimise milk quality at their Strathalbyn property by halving hot water heating time.


WA farmer reduces dairy farming emissions thanks to Lion Landcare Grant

7 JANUARY 2016 – West Australian dairy farmer, Warrick Tyrrell, has found a new way to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions at his Waterloo property at which his 300 cows produce 2.5 million litres of milk every year.

7 JANUARY 2016 – Tasmanian dairy farmer, John Wilson, has used a Lion Landcare Grant to introduce new sustainability measures at his Kayena property, which have significantly improved nutrient management and crop life.


Lion Landcare Grant helps Murray Bridge farm reduce energy costs

7 JANUARY 2016 – Murray Bridge dairy farmer, Ian Mueller, has installed an impressive energy efficient system which will significantly reduce his farm’s energy costs by more than 30 percent or over $2 per kilolitre of milk.


Landcare Australia leads partnership to rehabilitate Northern NSW Peel River Anabranch

23 DECEMBER 2015 – Landcare Australia will lead a partnership between the Australian Government, NSW Government, community groups and land holders to complete vital remediation and protection work on the invaluable Wallamore Anabranch along the Peel River in Northern NSW. More than one million dollars in funding and in-kind contributions have been committed to this project by partners: Landcare Australia, Australian Government Department of Agriculture, NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI), North West Local Land Services, Wallamore Landcare Group, Lion Dairy, and the 20 Million Trees Programme.

In a bid to make it easier for Landcare groups to attract young people, Landcare Australia has today released a new ‘how-to’ kit designed to provide practical advice on how to encourage young people to become active in their local Landcare group.
