Coming together to build a better tomorrow
By Dr Shane Norrish, CEO Landcare Australia
As stewards of this land, we have a responsibility to protect and care for it.
With more than 100,000 volunteers participating in projects delivered by over 5400 groups nationwide, Landcare continues to bring people together who are passionate about protecting, restoring, and sustainably managing the productivity and unique value of our country’s natural assets.
Bringing people together is at the heart of Landcare and one way Landcare Australia facilitates this is through the biennial National Landcare Conference and Awards.
A highlight in the Landcare calendar, it’s an event that brings together hundreds of Landcarers in one location; offering great opportunities to build networks, share ideas, and learn from our peers.
Landcare Australia chief executive officer, Dr Shane Norrish.
At this year’s conference and awards we’ll be thinking about what the future holds, what part the Landcare movement has to play in it and how we can – together – build a better tomorrow.
Working together to build a better tomorrow is integral to ensuring our country’s future. Individually, we can make a difference, but together we can achieve much more.
I’m always inspired by the calibre of speakers and presenters the Conference offers.
This year we received 140 submissions to present from farmers, volunteers, Landcare groups, natural resource management organisations, industry bodies, indigenous groups, environmental managers, and academics.
No matter how forward-thinking and innovative we consider ourselves, there is always an opportunity to learn more, gain new insights, and see things from a different point of view.
The National Landcare Awards are a wonderful way to celebrate the hard work, dedication and outstanding on-ground achievements of our Landcarers.
In 2018, we have 65 finalists nominated across nine categories.
They’re an inspiring bunch who deserve to be recognised for their hard work and passion.
Once again, Landcare Australia is looking forward to delivering the 2018 National Landcare Conference and Awards in partnership with the National Landcare Network and supported by the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
I’d like to thank our event sponsors and partners for the part they have played in helping us create a great event for everyone.
Building a better tomorrow starts with each and every one of us. Please join us at the 2018 National Landcare Conference and Awards.
