Landcare in Focus
November 2020
“Despite the unprecedented challenges we face right now, Landcare groups are embedded in their communities. This means they don’t stop working on projects or leave the area when conditions begin to improve. They remain involved for the long term, applying local experience and the lessons from previous events.”
These wise words from Landcare Australia CEO Dr Shane Norrish, who in this issue of Landcare In Focus, shares our front cover with WIRES CEO Leanne Taylor, marking the landmark alliance between the two organisations, coming together to restore and recover the Australian landscape after the impacts of bushfire and drought.
This latest edition of Landcare in Focus celebrates and acknowledges the extraordinary efforts of groups and individuals who have received funding from the WIRES Landcare Australia Wildlife Relief and Recovery Grants, in addition to the numerous other bushfire recovery funding programs lead by Landcare Australia throughout the year.
Elsewhere in the issue, we learn about paying it forward (in the agricultural sense), virtual fencing technology and how one Tasmanian school is forging a microbat habitat.
