Since 2006, Coca-Cola Australia with The Coca-Cola Foundation has partnered with Landcare Australia, providing funding to a range of community projects and engaging employees in environmental volunteering activities across Australia.
The principal objective of the Coca-Cola Landcare Australia partnership is to support the development of Landcare and Coastcare Groups working on and along various waterways, including coastal and river systems, and supporting community action and education activities that promote water as a key natural asset.
In 2019, for the second year in a row the Coca-Cola Foundation and Landcare Australia Coastal Protection grants were awarded. Eight grants of up to $15,000 each were distributed to groups representing all states. Read about 2019 grants and about the outcomes of 2018 grant projects.
The grant program sets out to engage community members from a range of demographics from school children to adults. Environmental, social and educational projects are undertaken through a variety of initiatives that are implemented by way of proactive planning and on-ground work facilitated by registered groups.
Since 2006, Coca-Cola funding of Landcare Community Watershed Projects has seen more than 10,000 volunteers involved in more than 40,000 hours of volunteer work. Close to 600 hectares of degraded land has been rehabilitated, with more than 40,000 native plants propagated, and more than 100,000 planted. Close to 700 Coca-Cola employees have engaged in on-ground environmental activities.
